This year, I decided to focus more on my own personal growth as a photographer. While I look forward to taking clients again starting this spring, I have really enjoyed practicing at home with my own family and enjoying the time I get to spend with them (whether I am shooting or not).
Soooooo, I’m starting a new personal project this year with Clickin Moms where each week we are given a theme to create from (also known as a p52 project). I love how each week is a new challenge to think creatively on how each of us Clickin Moms members portray the theme and share it with each other. I also love how it has already started to push me out of my comfort zone in order to allow for that creative growth I am striving for… Hopefully, I can stick with it throughout the year!! Feel free to follow along on Instagram or Facebook!
Here are the first four weeks for the Clickin Moms P52…
Week One: Self Portrait – Me and my girls
Week Two: Intention – Ok, so maybe this is exaggerated just a little, but you get the idea. She’s constantly getting into every basket and drawer, and her favorite clothing items to play with and carry around the house are her sisters’ socks and underwear (all clean of course!). My intention for 2021 is definitely NOT to do more laundry but to slow down and embrace the adorable messes and total chaos that comes along with raising three small girls because I’m reminded often that this won’t last forever!
Week Three: Favorite Things – My big girl in her happy place…I have so many favorite things – obviously everyone in my family is number one – but I chose to try this week’s prompt with my Genevieve. She’s not a fan of my “big camera”, so any chance I can get her in the frame is a huge win. There are so many things about this image that show my favorite things…HER, being her mom, her little profile, her blonde hair, her innocence and curiosity watching the snow fall and her iPad at the same time…just my special G being G. I also love how the scale of the window shows just how small she still is. She might be my oldest, but she’s still my little girl.
Week Four: Shoot Through Something – I love that this week’s topic pushed me to try something I’ve been wanting to try for awhile now. This look was achieved by holding a crystal ball wine stopper on the corner of my lens…I can’t wait to play with it again – hopefully on a day with actual sunshine here in Cleveland!
